Janet Echelman Meet & Greet + Book Signing
LeBauer Park, under Where We Met
May 14 at 1:30 PM
Join internationally acclaimed artist Janet Echelman for a special meet & greet and signing of her new book, Radical Softness: The Responsive Art of Janet Echelman. This richly illustrated volume offers a deep dive into her groundbreaking work, featuring project documentation, archival materials, and the stories behind her monumental, wind-responsive sculptures.
Echelman is in Greensboro to mark 10 years of Where We Met, her iconic aerial sculpture suspended above LeBauer Park. The piece is based on an 1896 map of railroad lines connecting Greensboro to the region’s textile mills, grounding the work in the history that shaped the city.
Known for sculpting at the scale of buildings and city blocks, Echelman blends art, architecture, and engineering to create immersive environments across five continents. Her work invites connection rather than observation, turning public space into shared experience.
Meet the artist beneath one of her most beloved installations, hear the story behind the work, and have your copy of Radical Softness signed.
